Consultant Spotlight: Larry Neukam
This month’s featured consultant is Larry Neukam. After serving as a Controller and Director of Finance for over 20 years, Larry has recently embraced the consulting lifestyle, expanding his industry experience, and adding value to Andrews & Cole’s clients.
1. What career advice would you give to your younger self?
Stay curious and don't be afraid to make mistakes. My best professional growth has occurred when I am engaged, asking questions, and taking appropriate risks to get the job done or exploring new ways to be successful.
2. What do you like most about being a consultant?
I have always been a consultant at heart as I enjoy variety and learning new things. As a consultant, there are many opportunities to help a team get through a busy time and/or do things better. Making tangible positive impacts for an organization is the best reward.
3. What do you do for fun?
My favorite activities are skiing, tennis, traveling and camping, along with going to concerts or playing music. Doing these things with my wife, kids or friends is the most fun as I try to live the "work-hard-play-hard" mantra as much as possible.
4. If you weren’t an accountant, what would you be?
I am such an analytic person, it's hard to imagine not working in accounting or finance. But if I had to pick something else, I probably would have owned a bar or music venue near the water somewhere. Totally different.
