If there’s one thing you’ll quickly learn about Jordan Schilit, it’s that his energy and drive never stop, whether he’s recruiting top accounting talent or planning his next race.
His dedication to his candidates, colleagues, and family embodies the values that make Andrews & Cole such a special place to work and is one of the many reasons the team voted him our One Team Star of the Quarter. What’s your favorite productivity hack? We have a new initiative called Goal 100 that helps me hold myself accountable, I make sure I have everything lined up for the next day: calls, interviews, and follow-ups, and I use Goal 100 to help me identify gaps where I might need to spend more time. I’m very visual, so it helps me quickly see what’s going on. Rich is big on planning for the next day, something I’ve gotten much better at recently. I’ve always improved in athletics, especially running, because I’m very organized, learn from what I’ve done, and am constantly tweaking my approach. I’m working towards being organized and planned in my recruiting. It’s all about building good habits and planning to hit your goals. How would you describe A&C in three words? Supportive, transparent, professional. Everyone here is very honest, with each other, with candidates, with clients. No one’s hiding anything, and that level of transparency really sets us apart. What motivates you to come to work every day? I love working with my candidates, supporting them throughout the recruiting process and helping them find their next role. Before I worked in recruiting, I worked as a track and field/cross country coach for almost 5 years, and my coaching experience has helped me in building rapport with candidates and offering guidance throughout the recruiting process. I love being able to support their searches and provide the best service that I can, and I know that my coaching background has helped me be successful. It’s a huge responsibility to help someone with a job change and I take it very seriously. How do you spend your time outside of work? Running has always been a part of my life. I’m a big competitive runner, and now that’s something I get to share with my son (if I’m not busy running after him!). It’s been fun to compete in stroller races with him, and I love that I get to share this with him. Staying active and fitness are very important to me, and I love that I get to pass the baton to him as the next generation. What’s your favorite TV show? Squid Games is fantastic from start to finish. I find it relevant to my everyday life in that the people on the show are in high stakes situations the entire time and they are constantly grappling with morals and ethics around their choices. They need to think about the decisions they’re making and whether they are honorable or sweeping things out from under other people. It was very eye-opening, and just a great reminder of the importance of integrity in everything you do. What’s your favorite family tradition? I love lighting candles for Shabbat and Hanukkah. With today’s technology, it’s so easy to stay connected with family and friends near and far, and we love to celebrate holidays virtually over Facetime. With family in Charlotte and Florida, technology makes it easy to stay connected and share those traditions. What’s something people don’t know about you? My favorite restaurant in Charlotte, Oh My Soul, has a special story behind it. Oh My Soul is this amazing South African vegan restaurant that is incredible colorful (including the food), and my wife and I had our first date there. We love it so much that we went back and did our engagement photos there! It’s a special place for our family and we go back often to celebrate. |
