Myth: I shouldn't be looking for a new position if I'm fairly happy with my current employer.

Fact: Career progression is about making the right move at the right time, not about being in an either/or stage of looking or not looking for a job. Many excellent opportunities are not advertised and, most of the reasons for making a change are intangibles not found in position descriptions or on company websites. We utilize our 10+ years of experience and our expertise in Finance and Accounting in the DC area market to counsel you on career strategy.

Myth: I am in the best possible position for me.
Fact: How do you know if you don't have someone keeping his/her eyes and ears open for you? You may have a job that's a pretty good situation, but there may be something better and you don't even know it if you don't have us evaluating potential opportunities as they arise.

Myth: The devil I know is better than the devil I don't.
Fact: A typical co-dependent mind set. There ARE better employment situations out there for you. Finding the right one is the key.

Myth: The grass is always greener. I really should just stay where I am.
Fact: Possibly. That's why you need to make a well-educated move based on facts and logic, not just a gut feel. We ensure that you address every possible issue and don't take anything for granted that you may not get.

Myth: My employer will find out I'm looking.
Fact: A common and oftentimes valid concern. This is yet another reason to work with someone with the utmost integrity to handle your search discreetly and confidentially.

Myth: If I work hard and do a good job, I will be taken care of.
Fact: Perhaps you will, but perhaps you won't. You need to be proactive about your career as well as your overall personal and professional happiness.

At Andrews & Cole, we do not advocate that you make a move just for the sake of making a move and will oftentimes counsel you to stay where you are. Nor do we suggest you make a move strictly for money and, if that is your sole issue, can strategize with you as to how to negotiate a better compensation agreement with your current employer.

We suggest you benchmark us against our competition:
