 It's hard to believe we're already 2 months into 2006. Like everyone else, we’re off to a busy start! All indications are for a continued robust job market in 2006, despite the fact that some very large employers are scaling back or eliminating their accounting and financial functions in the area.
M&A activity continues, while IPO and VC funding, although more robust than in 2002, has not rebounded as quickly. Expect continued hiring by the federal government, as well as some financial services firms, government contractors, some technology companies, and of course, professional services firms (public accounting firms and financial consulting firms). The greatest wildcard will be real estate firms. We haven’t seen any slowdown yet in the sector, but we’ll be watching it closely.
Trends in Accounting 
 We have a number of candidates that ask us about part time work and clients that look to hire part time help for certain seasons or even year round. However, both pools are still small and unless it’s you’re in an existing position, it’s difficult to find a challenging professional-level position on a part time base. We’d like to be able to facilitate this process for our clients.
